Orthopaedic Surgeon Appointment

This morning Violet had another orthopaedic surgeon review.

He wants to do further surgery alot sooner than we had expected. He decided today it would involve a tibial rotation. This is because she also has external tibial torsion (ETT) This would involve cutting her tibia and rotating it to improve the alignment and hold the bone in place until it heals...makes me cringe just hearing it!

He would also like to release her left foot (non hemi-side) as she has quite severe in-toeing on this side and UCBL's have not helped with this issue. She is being casted for another UCBL until surgery in 18 months. The casting will be done in February and will also involve a new AFO.

He is waiting 18 months for the next surgery just to allow time for her to get over her surgery this year...thankfully!

While there we also had an x-ray of her left pinkie which has a growth under the skin on the knuckle joint and has been getting bigger over the past 6 month.

Next orthopaedic surgeon review not for 6 whole months!

I'm glad you don't have to go back for 6 months - but how devestating to find out you have another big surgery to look forward to.
