So, today we went in early. First I went and got more supplies for Violet's pressure ulcer from the CNC and I showed her a photo from yesterday of Violet's ulcer and she then wanted to remove the dressings to check on it. It is looking alot better still, but also still a few weeks could even be a month or so before any weight baring can be done. Hard to say really as it still has a long way to go and also the healing could start slowing again, but I am remaining positive that things will keep going forward with the healing and that she will be back on her feet very soon.
The CNC did mention she thought it looked like it may have cellulitis but the Orthopaedic Surgeon thought it looked okay, so have everything crossed that he is right and the inflammation is not cellulitis. They also mentioned that if the remaining slough in the wound did not come out they may have to debride that area again. Here is todays photo.
After that we headed down to Orthotics to pick up her new AFO and Violet was absolutely over the moon getting it and finally out of a cast for the first time in 3 months and having two shoes on! Trouble is now she thinks she is allowed to walk and I have had to again explain that she is unable to do that for a bit longer as her sore needs to get better first.
They have put some joints in the AFO for when she is better and can manage a hinged AFO it is there so they can easily add them in. They have also adpated the AFO to accomodate the sore so no extra pressure is applied to that area.
