Pressure Sore Review

This morning we were back to the hospital to check on Violet's pressure sore and have it re-dressed.

She has been complaining of other areas underneath her cast being sore (heel and forefoot) but the surgeon said they have padded it so well, there really shouldn't be anything there causing another pressure sore...well all I can say is I hope he is right!

On checking her pressure sore, it looks about the same as Monday except the blackness has lessened and changed to different colours. Surgeon says its about 1mm deep so far. They applied more gel and re-dressed. They have asked if I can re-dress it every 2 days. I told them I don't think I can do it. So hoping Dave can do it Saturday and have organised for her GP to do it every 2nd day after that.

I have taken a photo of it but of course didn't want that to be the first thing anyone sees while checking Violet's blog, so instead for those of you who are curious to see and have a strong stomach (if there is any?) I have posted it to my photobucket account for viewing, here is the link.

I just have everything crossed that this thing doesn't get infected! She has already been feeling very unwell.

After another bad night last night, I am still thankful to the pharmaceutical companies for morphine and valium.

oh Sarah....that pressure sore. I dont blame you for not wanting to redress that wound and YES totally I can understand her need for the pain relief. I am devastated for Violet that she has this pressure sore and say a big well done to you for knowing your child and insisting that they look at the cast the other week...hugs to you all xxxx

Oh Sarah - that looks awful. I wouldn't be game to dress it myself either.

Big hugs to you and Violet. I am praying for a quicky recovery and no infection in her foot.

When do you go back? We will be at the hospital next Wed.

We will be back early Monday morning.

Then all being well not until she has her k-wires out on 31st. Hoping GP can help with the monitoring of it until then.
