Psych Assessment - Part 2

This morning Violet had part 2 of her Wechsler Assessment. When I told Violet this morning we would be going to The Spastic Centre she asked who see? and when I mentioned Psych's name she said she didn't want to see her, but once there was alot more cooperate to walk in the room with her at least.

She goes back on Monday for the next part and today I asked Psych how many appointments she may need to get through the assessments she said can be 6 or more, so we have 2 down potentially 4 more to go, I am hoping Violet can do it all in 6 or less as you all know I am not keen on dragging something like this out!

In other news this week:

On Wednesday Violet was re-casted for another AFO as the one that was made for her before Xmas is not going well and she is experiencing too many pressure sores from wearing it. So we pick that up in 5 weeks as they are extremely busy in the Orthotics Dept as usual. She starts more serial casting next Wednesday and her Physio at the Kids Hospital has lent us a leg wrap for her to wear when sitting for activities etc to help stretch further. She also has appointment with Orthopaedic Surgeon on 12th April to discuss surgery.

From today onwards she is finally being weaned off Tegretol which will take about 10 weeks, but so pleased she will soon be down to Epilim only, hope all goes well with the weaning and she can remain on the 1 med! Wish us luck!

I was thinking of you this morning... Hoping that this assesment is over as quick as possible, for you sake and Violets. Good Luck with the medication weaning process... we will be doing that in about 3 weeks.
Take care

Lots and lots of luck for the weaning off Tegretol. Bella was weaned off Phenobarb last year and we are now looking at weaning off Tegretol which will leave her with just Keppra. I am scared and excited at the same time. I will be thinking of you both....

Oh my goodness - 6 sessions??? I really hope it doesn't take that long!!!

I hope the casting goes OK - at least the weather is a little cooler now. Good luck for the weaning too - the less meds the better!

Alison, 6 is way too many hey! Basically thats 6 hours, as each session is an hour long. When PECAT does a 3 hour assessment straight up!

Wow, that's too bad that they stretch the whole thing out so much! But I'm glad that it went a little smoother this time - hopefully next time will just be a breeze :) Good luck with the weaning - yay for only one medication!

Sarah, I can't believe it's 6 sessions either. We did S's assessment last week and it involved ONE x 1.5 hour session. I hope that the assessor makes it a bit fun for her. xo
