Neurosurgeon Appointment

About a month ago, Violet had some unusual episodes. She would lay on the floor motionless and just stare blankly like she wasn't conscious of anything for about 5-10 seconds each time, then eventually she would get up and carry on as she was before.

Her Neurosurgeon is wondering whether she could have been having absence seizures. He has advised me to get in contact with him if she does this again, so he can organise an EEG.

All being well, she will be reviewed again 29th July.

Goodbye Nappies!

As some kids with Hydrocephalus can have huge issues when it comes to toilet training. We have never had huge expectations on Violet being tiolet trained.

We have been gradually trying since 30th December and she is now dry day and night, not bad after only 2 weeks of training.

As Violet has Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy, we now have to concentrate on her learning to do the toileting herself. As she only uses 1 hand being a Hemi, this makes it challenging to be able to get her pants down for toileting.

CIMT Baseline Assessment

Had the Baseline Assessment today for the Constraint Induced Movement Therapy Study. All went well and Violet was completely unaware of being filmed at various times during the 2 hours.

Glad I was organised!! I had to list all the daily tasks Violet has difficulty in doing, is unable to complete at all and doesn't even try to do. Then from those I had to choose 5 goals for this study. Was hard to work out which ones were most important, as they all seem important to us.

She starts her therapy on 14th January for the 8 weeks. At the end of those 8 weeks she has a re-assessment on the 13th March and another re-assesment after 6 months from the start of study.
